Morning Dose Of Reality: Futile Protest

On the heels of yesterday’s long-range missile test by Iran, the Obama Administration has taken the tack of simply condemning the launch.

“The White House Responded Sharply Wednesday To Word That Iran Has Tested An Upgraded Version Of Its Most Advanced Missile, Which Is Capable Of Hitting Israel And Parts Of Europe.”  (Matthew Mosk, “U.S. Condemns Iran Long-Range Missile Test,” The Washington Times, 12/17/09)

• “‘At a time when the international community has offered Iran opportunities to begin to build trust and confidence, Iran's missile tests only undermine Iran's claims of peaceful intentions,’ said Mike Hammer, a National Security Council spokesman. ‘Such actions will increase the seriousness and resolve of the international community to hold Iran accountable for its continued defiance of its international obligations on its nuclear program.’”  (Matthew Mosk, “U.S. Condemns Iran Long-Range Missile Test,” The Washington Times, 12/17/09)

Whether President Barack Obama likes it or not, Iran will have to be confronted. Not only are they working on nuclear weapons and threatening Israel’s existence, they have also been linked to supplying aid and comfort to insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan and are responsible for deaths of American forces. They have engaged us in war, but we still do nothing more than stamp our feet in protest.
