With word coming from The White House that President Barack Obama is open to meeting with Iran’s new President, Hassan Rouhani, the President’s recent Syria debacle, the Edward Snowden-Russian asylum fiasco, among other foreign policy blunders, now is the perfect time to jump into the way-back machine and revisit a post on ThinkFY from May 2012:
Former White House Chief of Staff and current Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel once said that you never want a good crisis to go to waste.
Emanuel: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” (“Rahm Emanuel: Never Let A Crisis Go To Waste,” ThinkFY’s YouTube Channel)
True to form, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and President Barack Obama seized on Monday’s tragic mass-shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. – while the events were still unfolding no less – to push once again for gun control.
It’s been 12-years since the terror attacks of 9/11. With each passing year, we should never forget those that lost their lives, the families that lost mothers, fathers, daughters and sons. We should never forget that there is evil in this world and it means to do us harm.
It has also been one year since the terror attack in Benghazi, Libya. We must not forget those who died. It is a reminder that those that seek to do us harm are still out there.
When you think about it, it’s hard to believe that a year has passed since the 9/11 anniversary attack on our consulate in Benghazi. It’s even more unbelievable that those that committed the attack, which took the lives of four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, are still at-large. And what comes as utterly dumbfounding is the fact that one of the known assailants, Ahmed Khattalah, has given media interviews, but the Obama Administration has failed to capture the fugitive.
So, some liberals are throwing some money at a new Super PAC to drum up support for a probable Hillary Clinton run for the White House. Not surprising. Democrats have been drooling all over themselves in hopes that Hillary will run.
What may surprise some folks is who was just named to the Super PAC’s National Finance Council: Susie Tomkins Buell, according to Lois Romano over at Politico. Okay, to some that may not be a surprise, but most people probably don’t recognize the name, and if they do, they probably just think she’s some rich liberal. While that’s true, most folks probably don’t know about her sweat-shop, union busting past.
Leave it to an unabashed liberal Democrat to use a tragedy like the tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma, to score political points.
“While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming.” (Jeff Poor, “Democratic Senator Uses Okla. Tornado For Anti-GOP Rant Over Global Warming,” The Daily Caller, 5/20/13)
That’s shameful. While citizens of Moore were frantically digging through the debris, trying to save lives and pray for their dead, Senator Whitehouse was using the devastation to blast Republicans over global warming.
Shame, shame, shame.
Known to be slow, labor unions are starting to realize what many Americans decided long ago: ObamaCare is going to be a catastrophe. As Kevin Bogardus reported this morning in The Hill, “labor unions are breaking with President Obama on ObamaCare.”
What’s got Big Labor all in a tither?
“Months after the president’s reelection, a variety of unions are publicly balking at how the administration plans to implement the landmark law. They warn that unless there are changes, the results could be catastrophic.” (Kevin Bogardus, “Labor Unions Break Ranks With White House On ObamaCare,” The Hill, 5/21/13)
As outlined in the U.S. Constitution, before a President can “enter on the Execution of his Office,” he or she must make the "following Oath or Affirmation:—‘I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.’”
President Barack Obama has twice put his hand upon a bible to take that oath. In doing so, President Obama not only promised to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution,” but also to uphold the rule of law.
Curious then why the President’s Senior Advisor would go on national television on Sunday morning and say that “the law is irrelevant” regarding the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) targeting of conservative groups and individuals.
Unless you’ve been in a coma for the past four days or so, you already know that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) initiated an illegal scheme to target conservative groups. While many have come forward to condemn the unconstitutional activities, former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) went a step too far.
Today, Pelosi too said the guilty must be punished, but then went on to blame the Supreme Court’s decision in the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission (FEC) decision.
“House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi . . . Blamed The Supreme Court For Opening The Door To Broader Political Activity.” (Stephen Dinan, “Pelosi: IRS Problem Stems From Court Ruling,” The Washington Times, 5/13/13)
In a not-so-shocking development today, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) admitted that it “inappropriately” targeted conservative groups for “additional review” during the “2012 election cycle.”
“The Internal Revenue Service Inappropriately Flagged Conservative Political Groups For Additional Reviews During The 2012 Election To See If They Were Violating Their Tax-Exempt Status, A Top IRS Official Said Friday.” (Stephen Ohlemacher, “IRS Apologizes For Targeting Conservative Groups,” The Associated Press, 5/10/13)
So, the big news of the day wasn’t that Jodi Arias was deservedly found guilty of first-degree murder or the unfolding story of the horrific kidnappings in Ohio, but rather what transpired on Capitol Hill throughout the day.
While the establishment news was dominated at times by an enraptured bonbon audience enthralled with coverage of Arias and the evil-doer Ariel Castro; what the American public learned today is that the Obama Administration, the State Department, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Ambassador Susan Rice and others engaged in a deliberate campaign to deceive the American people about a terrorist attack on the 11th Anniversary of 9/11 in Benghazi, Libya. In other words: a cover up of the murder of four Americans in a foreign land who were there just doing their jobs serving their country.
A spontaneous protest? No. An anti-Muslim YouTube video? Nope.
